Histon Ladies 4 Haringey Borough 0
Sunday 5th August 2018
In a reflection of the men’s league result two days beforehand, Histon ended up 4-0 victors against Haringey.
A strong start meant it took just 3 minutes for the hosts to edge ahead, Ali Wright’s curling right foot effort going just inside the post and into the side netting, leaving the Haringey goalkeeper stretching to make an impossible save.
Six minutes it was 2-0, Pip Hayden-Evans putting a nice effort over the ‘keeper from outside the area on the right side and into the left side of the net.
Sophie Lanham then got on the score sheet with 28 minutes gone, an own goal contributing what was the final goal of the game after Tessa Shaw’s attempt to get to the ball was enough to halt the ‘keeper from keeping the ball out of the net.
After the break the conditions and forced substitutions halted Histon’s momentum on several occasions and they were unable to add to their goal tally.
In Haringey’s favour they didn’t sit down to nurse their wounds and looked for an equaliser, the home defence holding strong, in part due to some good saves from from ‘keeper Keeley Robinson including one to halt a free kick in added time.
