Finally, it appears that The Stutes shall see action for the first time in a month on Saturday (Kick Off 3PM), having seen their past three fixtures bite the dust due to frozen and waterlogged pitches. 10th placed Bugbrooke St Michaels are the visitors, as Lance Key will be hoping that his side can dust off the cobwebs. Whilst our last game was back on January 7th, our visitors from Bugbrooke have played on three occasions since then, collecting 3 points from a challenging trio of fixtures that saw The Badgers face three of the top seven sides in the division.

While there has been some frustration of a lack of competitive action, Manager Lance Key will be encouraged to now have a full complement of forwards at his disposal, with long term absentee Dan Brown having completed 90 minutes with the Reserves a week ago. Adding Browny to the trio of Connor Barnes, Luke Lindsay and Ryan Henry in the final third will give the boss additional physical presence within the line, along with that extra bit of experience.

The boss has also added to his defensive ranks this week, with the signing of 29 year old Jay Rolfe from Step 3 Royston Town on dual registration. With the flexibility to operate at both centre back and on the right side Rolfe addition will undoubtedly strengthen our options at the back. His experience may prove invaluable, having been involved in 11 fixtures for The Crows this season. Rolfe joined Steve Castle’s side from Welwyn Garden City, a club that he had spent 4 seasons with. During that time he helped the Hertfordshire side gain promotion from Step 5 in 2017/18, also playing a key part in their fine run in The Southern League Division One Central (Step 4) last term, where a 5th place finish was achieved.

Our opponents, The Badgers come into the game having suffered a 3-0 defeat Tuesday evening at 2nd placed Coventry Sphinx. This would appear to have been a somewhat more straightforward game than their previous outing. At March Town United a week ago The Badgers collected 3 points, having faced 3 different goalkeepers! The home side conceded 3 penalties in the game, with 2 of their goalkeepers seeing red for their offences.  Will Glennon successfully converted all 3 opportunities from 12 yards, helping his side to a 3-1 win. Bugbrooke have clearly seen plenty of action within their opponents penalty areas, with the side having amassed 9 penalties, 5 more than any other side in the league!

Glennon has proven to the biggest thorn in opposition sides, with the front man having 22 goals in all competitions thus far including 9 strikes from the penalty mark. Behind Glennon in the goalscoring charts are Will Jones with 8 and Edward Planter 6 goals respectively. The Badgers have hit the net on 28 times in UCL action, with just 9 goals on home turf and 17 having been scored on the road. Their away record is far superior to results on their own patch, having won 5, drawn 1 and lost 5.

A reminder that we shall be welcoming pupils from Histon and Impington Brook and Park Primary Schools to the fixture. Please note that the turnstiles situated to the right hand side of the main stands shall used for those invited as part of our Primary School Initiative, with the main block used for all other supporters.
