Histon made it 4 games unbeaten and moved up to 8th in the table as they overcame Stortford thanks to two first half goals.
Bex Lenton came close to netting for the hosts after 3 minutes, her control and shot after Georgia Day’s lay back saved low down by goalkeeper Ella Nicholls. They were a goal to the good on the quarter hour mark in a case of déjà vu, Ali Wright being fouled in the right corner of the box near the bye line as she controlled the ball, similar to the previous match, but this time Wright stepped up to net from the spot.
Stortford came close themselves shortly afterwards, Poppy Kelly shooting low but wide of the near left post before Claudia Allport-Diaz had a low shot at the same post saved by ‘keeper Keeley Robinson.
Three minutes before half time the home crowd were ecstatic as Lucy Julian found the net, her 35 yard first time effort as the ball came out to her going high and towards goal, Nicholls just getting a hand to her effort but she was unable to keep it out of the left side of the goal.
Katie Seagrave and Charlotte Westrope couldn’t quite get their feet around efforts in the second period, the former also have a chance seconds into added time but her effort came off Nicholls’ foot and went behind.
