Histon secured a point for the second Sunday in a row against King’s Lynn thanks to a 30 yard effort from Georgia Day cancelling out the away side’s opening goal.

This came after 7 minutes, a cross from the right being deflected and not cleared, allowing Rochelle Woods to control the ball before putting a shot on the turn from close range and right of goal into the left side of the net.

Histon goalkeeper Keeley Robinson kept them in it with a save ten minutes later before Day netted with 21 minutes gone, Sophie Lanham’s persistence near the left corner of the area paying off as she reclaimed possession, her ball across to Katie Segrave was laid back to Day whose 30 yard first time effort went over the ‘keeper and into the net.

Smart goalkeeping from Robinson saved her side in the final minute of the half, first halting a 20 yard free kick before going full stretch to keep out a shot going to her left after the resulting corner.

After the break it was hard for either side to find a chance on goal until the final 20 minutes. Segrave’s drive on 72 minutes finding the goalkeeper’s foot and Ali Wright was unlucky not to put her side ahead when she sliced her effort following an awkward bounce.

A King’s Lynn free kick went just wide of the mark two minutes later and they would have been kicking themselves in the 76th minute when a cut back left the goal at their mercy but a side foot effort from 10 yards out went just wide of the foot of the right post.

King’s Lynn did find the net on 82 minutes but it was ruled out for offside.
