On Saturday ahead of the game against Stowmarket, Ali Wright and some of her Histon Ladies FC team mates will be washing cars in order to raise money for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. Ali is organising a number of fundraising events in the coming weeks which will culminate in her running of the London Marathon on 28th April.

If you want your car washed on Saturday just let Ali or one of her team know as you drive into the car park and leave the rest to her. It will cost you £5 per car (or more if you wish, every extra penny goes into the pot and will be greatly appreciated!).

Ali says “This charity is incredible and is the only UK charity to focus solely on lung cancer care. It has a dual focus – saving lives, and supporting people who are affected by the dreadful disease.

So many people now around the world suffer from this awful type of cancer, and when you lose someone so special to you, and so close to you, it gives you even more of that drive to do something amazing, and that is what pushes me to do this.

I will be running the London Marathon in memory of my amazing Nanna Iris who sadly lost her battle with Lung Cancer. She was a true fighter, right up until her last breath. She was my world, my rock, the one person who always rang me, who always asked how I was, who always asked how I got on at football, for giving the best cuddles, and for being the most loving/caring Nanna anyone could ever wish for. I was blessed to have her in my life and she will always hold a huge place in my heart.

For this marathon place to be successful, I must raise £2000 for the charity, so any donation small or large, will mean so much to me and my family.

Along with the car wash I will be hosting a charity football match, as well as a race night and packing shopping in supermarkets. So keep your eyes peeled on social media for this.

Again thank you for taking your time to read my story, lets raise money and awareness of this dreadful disease, and support those around us who are suffering.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.”
