Thurlow Nunn ECL Premier Division
Wednesday 26th December 2018
Kick Off @ 11:00am

Our Boxing Day game this year takes us the short distance to Newmarket Town for an 11:00am kick off as we get back to league action after Saturday’s game at Clacton was postponed.

Lance has added Salim Relizani to the squad as we go into what is going to be a very busy second half of the season. The 24 year old forward/attacking midfielder came through the Scholarship here at Bridge Road, making his debut in the 2012/13 season and going on to make 53 appearances in our colours, scoring 5 times before moving on. He’s been at Cambridge City this year and more recently was at Cherry Hinton from where he re-joins us.

Our last visit to The Bloorie Stadium came back in November in the County Cup when goals from Dan Brown and Max York (2) saw us through to the next Round with a 3-0 win. It wasn’t like that in the league last season though when Town beat us 4-0 in an eventful game that saw keeper Ayden Duffy carried off after being knocked unconscious, Evan Key going on goal to save a penalty before being beaten by two more penalties later in the game.

Town are currently 9th in the table with recent results a bit mixed. Hammered 2-6 at home by Woodbridge Town early in December they responded to win away at Thetford Town the following week before being beaten at Great Yarmouth. On Saturday however they responded well again to see off Wroxham with a 3-2 win at The Bloorie with goals from Shaun Avis, Jack Watson and Jack Whiting.

The manager may have to juggle his squad a bit over the next week or two as the games come think and fast but hopes to be able to call upon Lewis McDonald once again tomorrow as the defender recovers from a rib injury. With 24 league games still to play this season on top of FA Vase and County Cup commitments, 2019 is going to be hectic!

Don’t forget, this is an 11:00am kick off on Boxing Day morning.
