olivia-whittaker-signsThe 12 players of Histon, including 16 year old Olivia Whittaker who was making her debut (the first to join the team from the Histon Hornets, pictured right), came away from Dunstable deserving more than the single goal loss they finished with.

Kate Saunders shot at the goalkeeper on 21 minutes before the hosts edged ahead in the 28th when an unmarked striker headed in on the goal line when she met a free kick from 18 yards out on the left bye line.

Nine minutes after the half time break Histon were deservedly level, Abi Davies putting in a ball down the right, Jordanne Sillitoe causing her marker to slice her attempted clearancebefore lifting the ball over the ‘keeper and in from 20 yards out.

Dunstable’s first attack of the half brought their winning goal after 64 minutes when a shot from out wide took a strange bounce next to goalkeeper Helen Slipper and found the far bottom left corner.

Histon should have found an equaliser but Sophie Lanham’s shot from 20 yards on to the roof of the net was the closest they came.
