Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round
Saturday 10th August 2019
Kick Off @ 3:00pm

Today our 2019/20 season kicks off with a trip to Desborough Town in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round. A place in the next round is up for grabs and the winners will travel to Bury Town in two weeks time.

Our hosts had a decent season in the United Counties League Premier Division last year, finishing in 9th place with 60 points from 38 games and have started this season well having put 4 points on the board already after a 3-2 win away at Leicester Nirvana on the opening day was followed up by a 2-2 draw at Wellingborough Town on Tuesday evening. Nathaniel Ansu has hit the ground running in style with 4 of Town’s 5 goals and will surely pose a threat as they look to get a result in their first home game of the season.

For our part Lance has been pleased with pre-season in general and has added one or two new faces to the squad. Left-sided midfielder Buster Harradine will be well known to supporters having plied his trade at a number of clubs locally. His experience and versatility adds depth to the squad and gives the Gaffer more options. Young defender Charlie Lewis has also been signed whilst another experienced signing is that of goalkeeper Phil Peachey (for a month initially from Cherry Hinton) who supporters will no doubt be familiar with most recently from his time at Godmanchester Rovers.

The rest of the squad remains familiar to supporters as Lance has kept together the majority of those that won the ECL Premier Division title in such memorable style just a few short months ago. The Gaffer will have some selection decisions to make today as we aim to get our season up and running with a good result on the road and we hope to see plenty of Stutes support in the ground today. For those of you who have booked a place on the team bus don’t forget that we leave Bridge Road at 12pm sharp!
