Last Saturday was our second frustrating home 0-0 draw in a row but the Manager has been busy strengthening his squad for the final run in and will be looking for all three points tomorrow. Lee Smith and Evan Key both returned to the club ahead of last Saturdays’ game against Hanwell Town and had a positive impact on the team. This week Lance has brought Joe Carden back to the club and he goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game against high flying Rovers. Attacking midfielder/forward Joe completed his Scholarship here with us last summer and made his breakthrough into the first team last season scoring twice before moving on to play for St Ives Town, Cambridge City and most recently, Soham Town Rangers this season. Key has also signed American born striker Jabari Hylton, the 18 year old having previously been with Swindon Town. Simon Unwin and Ben Yeomans both serve the final games of their suspensions tomorrow whilst Dan Gleeson sits out the first of his own 3 game ban after seeing red last Saturday. Lewis Clayton however has returned to training and may well be available for selection.

Joe CardenThe reverse fixture at Barton’s Luton Road ground back in early November was memorable to say the least. Matty Allan and Ben Yeomans both fired hat-tricks as we came away with a remarkable 6-2 victory. Yeomans gave us an early lead before the home side hit back and we went into the break 1-2 behind. Still trailing with less than 20 minutes to go, Yeomans and Allan found their scoring boots to bag five more between them and send the travelling Stutes supporters home more than happy!

Our point against Hanwell last week combined with Aylesbury’s heavy defeat to Royston means the gap between us and safety is now 5 points, with Aylesbury due to visit The Glassworld on 25th of this month in what is building up to be a very big game indeed! Before that though Lance knows we need to keep putting points on the board and tomorrow’s game will be a test with Rovers very much in the hunt for a play off place. They are currently 4th in the table and will be intent on reversing that November scoreline tomorrow afternoon. To signal their promotion intent they signed the prolific Danny Watson, current leading scorer in the Division, from play off rivals Kempston Rovers recently and he opened his Rovers account with a debut goal in their home draw with Ashford last Saturday.
