FITC: The Histon Invitation Cup
First Histon Invitation Cup
The first Histon Invitation Cup

Have you ever dreamed of becoming a professional footballer? Have you ever dreamed of playing in front of thousands of fans singing your name week in week out? Histon Football Club is now offering a special match day opportunity for local colts/mini league teams to live the dream and play on the Glassworld Stadium pitch.

The Histon Invitation Cup is a 4 team, 5-a-side knock-out tournament, with a prize for the winning team! The tournament will take place before or after first team home games (weather permitting) and will last for a maximum of 40 minutes.

We were delighted to kick off the FIRST EVER Invitation Cup by welcoming the players, parents and managers of Histon Hornets under 7s, 8s, 9s and 10s at the African National Select XI friendly on July 21st.

The boys that participated from the Hornets teams were mixed up into 4 different teams. Spain, England, Ivory Coast and Brazil.

Congratulations to all the players in the Spain team who went on to win the Invitation Cup after a tense sudden death penalty shootout against - yes, you got it - England!! All the players were then invited to become guard of honour mascots and take part in a half time penalty shootout.

Bruce Clark, Histon Hornets under 8s Manager commented after the Tournament:
"The boys had a great time playing on the pitch before the game. If you keep this strategy up over the season you will add to the home gate and make some new Histon fans. We would be delighted to play again later on in the season if there is an opportunity. Keep up the good work and pass on our thanks to the directors."

All the children were a credit to their club. On behalf of Histon FC I would like to thank all those for supporting and attending this great event and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
