Manager John Beck took his first pre-season training session on Saturday and continued yesterday evening with faces old and new in attendance. From last year’s squad Adam Tann, Lanre Oyebanjo, Daniel Sparkes, Callum Stewart, Joe Welch, Erkan Okay, Jim Stevenson, Zac Mills, David Knight and Sam Mason-Smith were joined by a number of invited trialists and one or two potential loanees, whilst Lewis Taafe is expected to join them on Wednesday for the next session after returning from holiday. Whilst the manager put the outfield players through their paces last night, new goalkeeping coach Dean Greygoose took the stoppers for more specialist preparation and physio Martin Smith kept a close eye on all those present identifying individual physical requirements as the build up to the new season gets up to speed. JB was pleased with the first couple of sessions saying “we were joined by 45 trialists over these first couple of sessions and I’ve narrowed that down and invited 9 back for further training. I’m also expecting three lads down from Peterborough Utd to have a look at with a view to getting them in on loan so it’s taking shape but I’ll keep looking for the right quality to add to the squad”. The Club can confirm that talks with both Adam Tann and Lanre Oyebanjo are ongoing and we expect to be able to clarify their positions in the near future. Further details regarding the comings and goings and internal re-structuring here at The Glass World Stadium both on-field and off will be made available in the near future and we thank all of our supporters for your patience during these difficult last few months.
