The Club was pleased to support the Histon Feast by joining in the Feast Parade on Sunday afternoon. The Histon minibus featured near the front of the procession and was followed by a swarm of Hornets players led by Alex Kaufman.
Glorious sunshine ensured a great turn-out from local residents. Feast Committee representative Sandra Howarth contacted us on Sunday night to thank us for our participation and to say that the parade had raised £1650 for the Feast's designated good causes.
Alex and the Hornets were in good voice and spirits, songs and chants loudly competing with the parade bands and distributing fliers - ably assisted by Anna and Val - for the 'Academy Kicks' summer football courses.
Behind the wheel on the bus - bedecked with balloons, posters and flags, was Vice-Chairman Angelo Dama, truly (and on this occasion literally) the driving force behind the club in recent weeks. VIP passengers on and around the bus included Board member Mac McDonald with Karen, Holding Group representative Graham Muncey with Muriel, Stutes stalwarts Steve and Janet Wilkinson, and last (but by no means least!) the Histon Hound. The Hound proved to be a very popular figure, giving away HFC reusable sports bags produced specially by sponsors Stevenage Packaging.
All in all, a truly enjoyable occasion giving the Club the chance to show Histon and Impington that, despite the recent upheavals, we are still alive, kicking and looking forward to the season ahead.
Don't forget to come and visit the HFC stall at the Feast Market on The Green on Saturday 10th July - support the Feast, the village and your local football club at the same time!
