Fallon Swoops for Centre Half

Histon manager Steve Fallon has moved quickly to secure centre half Adam Bygrave from Weymouth Town. The player who has been at Reading, Gillingham and Weymouth is set to join the Stutes on New Years Day after the player completed his medical and trained with the Histon FC on Tuesday. The club have paid a fee of £5,000 to Weymouth.

Following suspensions and injuries in the last three weeks manager Steve Fallon has seen just how fragile his title challenging squad is with seven of his squad unavailable when the team travelled to Grays on Sunday, and an injury to Gareth Gwillim. The manager has been busy, along with his coach John Beck, working to improve his squad and bring in players to bolster their hopes of sustaining a play off place or catching leaders Burton Albion.

Manager Steve Fallon spoke of his delight at landing a player that’s been his target since the late summer; “We have watched Adam on many occasions tracking his progress, so to bring him in during the transfer window will be a positive thing for the team and our club. I must thank Gary Calder and Alan Lewer who have been extremely professional throughout the process. Alan is an exceptional coach and, as he proved with what he achieved at Cambridge, given the right resources he will bring success.  We play Weymouth on January 10th and so have agreed that Adam will not play against them but he is not FA Cup tied so can come into the Squad for our 3rd round match against Swansea City."

John Beck was very positive about the new arrival; “having been and watched Adam I know joining us at the moment will benefit both Adam and our team, he is young but has everything to develop into an outstanding Football League player, obviously we hope that is with Histon FC.”

Chairman Gareth Baldwin spoke about the club using the FA Cup money to improve the Stadium and the squad; “We will continue to invest any funds that become available from our FA Cup run, whether it be on the Stadium or the playing staff. We have a small number of things we will carry out to the stadium during the Spring but bringing in two or three players has also become a priority; our fixtures since the FA Trophy defeat to Cambridge have highlighted we are short in a few areas, so the work Steve and John have done since September in identifying players we want to bring in has been invaluable and hopefully the new players can settle in quickly and help keep us amongst the top five.”
