Star Striker Antonio Murray has
delighted the management team and fans of Histon FC by signing to stay at the
Glass World Stadium for another season. The player who arrived from Scottish
Premier Division Club Hibernian has plundered 16 goals this season forming an
impressive partnership with Danny Wright in the second half of the season
between them the pair grabbed 34 Goals.
Murray has been used in central
midfield and wide on the right and has scored some stunning goals in the second
half of the season. But his career at the Glass World has really taken off since
his partnership with Danny Wright, playing up front it has seen the player really
blossom with the pair looking like a very dangerous front two. Manager Steve
Fallon was clearly delighted that another of his very talented young players had
chosen Histon over a number of other clubs who had been chasing the impressive striker; “I think it shows that Histon FC are as capable as anyone of attracting
and retaining good players and as we did with Cliff Akurang help players to
achieve their ambitions with or through our club. Antonio was in fantastic form
in the last three months of the season and with Danny Wright were as good a
pairing as any strike force in the conference as their goal scoring shows. To
retain Antonio when clubs like Cambridge United come calling is a very big
statement now we have to deliver on the pitch more consistently and force our way
into the play offs."
Manager Steve Fallon confirmed he is
very close to making his first new signing of the summer as well as being at an
advanced stage of talks with two other players; "It's exciting times for us at the
moment, we must be offered a dozen players a day from one place or another so its
essential we have our ground work completed by April and know exactly who our targets are or it could get very confusing. After the season we have had it's no
surprise people are coming after our players but unless everything is right for
our players and the club we won't part with players as we want to achieve our own ambitions not help other
clubs achieve theirs.”
