The new Board of Histon Football Club has decided to honour the achievements of former Manager Steve Fallon by naming the Club's main stand The Steve Fallon Stand. The Club's current Board sincerely regrets the circumstances under which Steve left in January 2010 which precluded any proper acknowledgement and celebration of his achievements. The Board hopes that celebrating the naming of the Stand will go some way towards rectifying this. Steve Fallon, who lives in Impington, managed the Village side for over a decade leading the Club to a number of league championships and a League Two Play Off place in May 2009. His achievements that season were recognised nationally with him being named 'Non League Manager of the 2008/09 Season' by the Non League Directory. That season also included one of the great FA giant killing upsets when Histon beat Leeds United in November 2008. New Histon FC Director and local independent Councillor Neil Davies explains: "in the last few years there has been a separation between the Village Club and its local community. The recognition of Steve’s achievements will hopefully be a start of a reconnection between the village and its Club". Former Histon player and Club volunteer Laurence Cullum enthuses "Steve was known as Mr Histon when manager and it’s great that his achievements will now be permanently honoured". The official naming of the Stand will take place on Tuesday 30th October at the Blue Square Bet Conference North Match against Solihull Moors, and there will be a celebration dinner in Steve's honour before the match. We anticipate that Steve will also be joined on the night by a number of the players that contributed so much to the Club's success during his time here. Places for the celebration dinner are limited and Season Ticket Holders will be given priority to book their places until Monday 8th October, after which any remaining tickets will go on general sale. The Club will be contacting Season Ticket Holders in the next few days with further details.
